10 FREE events in Erie in October You Won't Want Your Kids To Miss!

Looking for things to do with kids in Erie that are free in October? You've come to the right place! Here are 10 kid-friendly and family-friendly events this month in the Erie region that are absolutely free. Some are Halloween related, but others are just great free October events I didn't want you to miss! Click on the links for more information and for registration details on these FREE Erie October kid-friendly events:

Science Story Time at Penn State Behrend (reservations required) 

Once a month, you're invited to bring your preschooler to Penn State Behrend for story reading, interactive activities, and "out-of-this-world" fun! Each session includes a story reading and hands-on lesson by Tracy Halmi, associate teaching professor in chemistry. Advance registration required. Oct. 4.

Tamarack Wildlife Center Open House

Join Tamarack for its annual Open House. Meet ambassador animals, tour the center, make kids crafts and more. Weather permitting a hawk may be released during this event. Oct. 6

Monday Kids Zone: Juggling at Lincoln Community Center (Reservations required)

Amaze your friends and dazzle your family with new magic tricks that you will learn. The class will also learn to juggle. Participants will take home their own set of juggling balls. Oct. 7.

FREE: Erie City Moms' Night Out! Plus Halloween Costume Exchange

Erie City Moms meets once a month kid-free to get real about our struggles. Dinner and childcare are always FREE. Do you have a clean, gently used Hallloween costume? Bring it to Moms Night Out October 7 at Wayne Park Baptist to share with a friend! Oct. 7

Monster Mash at Second Sundays at the Erie Art Museum 

Use junk drawer items to make the scariest, weirdest, wildest monsters just in time for Halloween.  Oct. 13

Edgar Allen Poetry Slam at Blasco (Ages 13-18. Registration required)

Celebrate the macabre, the morbid, and the melancholy through the spoken word. Teens are invited to read an original poem, classic Poe, or come dressed in your spooky best and enjoy the experience of hearing poetry out loud. Co-hosted by The GeekERIE with special guest: Michele Dolan. Oct. 19

TREC or Treat at Presque Isle State Park

Join the staff of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center for some Halloween fun for the young and the young at heart. There will be many tables and booths with treats and activities. Children will be trick or treating their way throughout the building. There will be a costume contest, judges will vote on the most creative and spooky. Oct. 26

Flagship Flea on Independence Hill

The Flagship Flea is an indie market for local makers, artists, musicians, vintage/antique dealers & food vendors. This is the last Flagship Flea of 2019. Oct. 27

Trick or Treat at the Erie Art Museum and Kooky Spooky Halloween Fun at ExpERIEnce Children's Museum

Trick or treat at the Erie Art Museum from 1 to 3 p.m. and next door at the Children's Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. Costumes encouraged. Oct. 27

Escape Room: Escape the Haunted Mansion at Lincoln Community Center (Reservations required)

Bring your friends, family and your wit for this spooky escpae room as together you will need to solve a series of clues to escape the Haunted Mansion before the bell tolls. If you dare! Separate events set up for teens and families. Oct. 29
