Brothers-in-law Peter Demichele and Greg Straub started their Erie business in 2014 shipping their shirts right from Peter's basement.They found such a market for their awesome Erie-themed shirts that they were able to open a storefront at 2309 W. 12th St. in 2017.
"It seemed like there wasn't a way for people to tell what they love about Erie in a light and fun way," says Peter, a father of two. "So we decided to find a way to do that."
You've probably seen their feel-good shirts around town. Their best seller is the one that proclaims "It's OK to love Erie." There is also the tongue-in-cheek: "World's Third Best Sunsets."
Erie Apparel isn't just for adults either: Most of their shirts come in kid sizes. I snagged a "Let's Meet at Sara's" shirt for my daughter. There's also an irresistible "I'm Eriesistible" onesie for babies and kids. I mean, how cute is that?
Their iconic Erie collection, meanwhile, includes designs my husband loves, like "Frankly, I'll only Eat Smith's."
My husband loves all the Erie Apparel shirts I've gotten him -- he gives them the ultimate compliment by saying they're as soft as his old T-shirts ... you know, the ones that I've washed 100 times.
