Goodell Gardens Fall Classes Begin For Children

FREE Classes available for preschoolers, along with children in grades 3-5 and high school

Goodell Gardens is looking forward to welcoming children to upcoming classes! Classes are available for preschoolers, children in 3rd to 5th grade, and students in high school. 

Bonus: All the classes this fall are completely FREE thanks to a grant from the William & Ethel Hovis Fund at the Erie Community Foundation!

Here are all the details:





Garden Sprouts (Ages 3-5)

This six-week pre-school program for children ages 3 to 5 begins Thursday, September 22, and will take place from 11 am-12 pm each Thursday in the Goodell Gardens Events Barn. 

Educators have some exciting nature topics planned, including owls and bats!

Garden Saplings (Grades 3-5)

Visit Goodell Gardens with your elementary school children for a fun learning experience! Children and educators will explore the wonders of the garden using senses to help  get in touch with nature. In the last session, everyone will have a chance to use their creativity to make something special! Parents and guardians are welcome to attend this program with their children, but are not required.

  • Session 1: Look (September 18)
  • Session 2: Listen (October 2)
  • Session 3: Touch (October 9)
  • Session 4: Smell (October 16)
  • Session 5: Taste (October 23)
  • Session 6: Create (October 30)

Flowering Trees (Grades 9-12)

Goodell Gardens' programs for high school students offer an opportunity for local youth to explore environmental issues and engage in backyard projects that benefit the environment and the community. Students can take their smaller creations home or give them to others in their neighborhood. Larger projects add permanent enhancements to the grounds at Goodell Gardens. Parents and guardians drop off their teenagers for this program.
