It’s here... the season of popsicles, sunscreen, and “what are we doing today?” on repeat. If you’re looking for fun, free ways to enjoy summer without planning a thing, then Erie County Public Library has your back.
Their 2025 Summer Library Program is here, and this year’s theme is Color Our World — a celebration of creativity, community, and connection for all ages.
🎨 What is the Summer Library Program?
From June 7 to August 23, Erie County Public Library is hosting a season full of hands-on activities, creative programs, reading challenges, and tons of chances to win great prizes. And yes — it’s for all ages (grownups included!).
Here’s what’s happening this summer:
- 🎭 Art-Themed Events & Programs
Think rock painting, photography contests, Pride crafts, wildlife visits, and even Alfred Hitchcock film nights. Events are happening all summer long — check events.erielibrary.org for the full schedule! - 📚 Reading Challenges (With Prizes!)
Complete any of the 4 fun reading challenges — as many times as you like — and earn entries to win weekly experience prizes and end-of-summer item prizes. Kids even earn a free book after their first challenge! - 📸 Through Your Lens Photo Competition
Snap a pic that captures your community and submit it for a chance to be featured in your library branch. - 🎨 Art Tile Community Project
Pick up a mini canvas, create your masterpiece, and help build a colorful installation at your local branch. - 🚌 Bookmobile Pop-Ups
Can’t make it to the library? ECPL is bringing the fun to YOU with Summer Bookmobile visits across Erie County — open to the public and full of crafts, card signups, and books to borrow.

🤔 FAQs (Because We’re All Asking…)
Do I need to register in person?
Yes! Starting June 7, head to any ECPL branch to sign up and snag your tote.
Is it just for kids?
Nope! This program is for everyone. Adults are encouraged to complete the challenge for themselves, or challenge the kids in their life to model some good grownup reading habits, and explore the many things ECPL offers adults. This year, the acclaimed HistERIE series falls within the Summer Library Program, so there are even more exciting programs for adults & teens! (PS: Even if you’re “not a reader” there are challenges to win without even opening a book).
How many challenges can we do?
As many as you want! Each completed challenge = one prize entry. Boom.
When is everything due?
Final challenge sheets must be submitted by August 23, 2025.
