Erie kids have a new way to cool down this summer, and it won't cost their parents a penny!
Mayor Joe Schember - along with a group of excited kids - cut the ribbon on Erie's first public splash pad Monday.
The splash pad is located at Bayview Park at West Second and Walnut streets. Bayview Park - as its name suggests - overlooks Presque Isle Bay, offering beautiful waterfront and Presque Isle views. Along with the splash pad, the park is also home to a playground and a little free library.
With the help of state and local grants, officials said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that the park will continue to make improvements over the coming months, with pathways, benches and tennis courts repurposed into multipurpose courts.
The splash pad will operate noon to 5 p.m. daily and noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and is free to use!
