By Kara Murphy October 24, 2019

It's going to be a spooktacular weekend for kids in Erie, Pa., with more than 20 special Halloween and fall events to pick from.

The best part? A lot of these Erie Halloween events for kids are FREE! That's a definite treat, not a trick!

Here are our Macaroni Kid picks for five FREE Halloween events in Erie you'll want your kids to dress up for this weekend:

TREC or Treat at the Tom Ridge Center

Join the staff of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center for some Halloween fun for the young and the young at heart. There will be many tables and booths with treats and activities. Children will be trick or treating their way throughout the building. There will be a costume contest, judges will vote on the most creative and spooky. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest for children of all ages. Some of nature's odd animals will be present to help us have fun. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Eeerie Fall Fest at Gridley Park

The Eeerie Fall Fest is one of the best ways to celebrate the fall season with your friends and neighbors. This free, family-friendly event includes kid’s games and activities, face painting, snacks, a hayride around the park, and a costume parade for kids starting at 12 PM! In case of rain, we will be moving to the Gannon University Field House at Sassafrass and W 5th Street. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Hill District Flea: Hallow'd Hill Trail of Treats

This will be the LAST flea market of the SEASON and will be the SPOOKIEST! Kids will love the trail of treats, during which candy will be handed out by each vendor and The Shops on the Hill so make sure to bring the kiddos dressed up in their costumes! There will also be boo-tiful vendor goods, antiques, unique finds, foods, and fun! 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27

Trick or Treat at the Art Museum

Last year more than 500 people trick-or-treated through the galleries with their kids and grandkids, and we can’t wait to do it again! We’ll have arts and crafts, a monster-themed scavenger hunt, full-sized candy bars and prizes for the best art-inspired costumes. Eerie Eric will be here. Admission is free, but donations are welcome! 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27

Kooky Spooky Halloween Fun at ExpERIEnce Children's Museum

The ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum is hosting its annual Kooky Spooky Halloween Party Admission for the event is free, but donations are very much appreciated. During the event, the museum will be filled with lots of fun including treat stations, pumpkin cookies, experiments and more. You can even guess the weight of a pumpkin to win a special prize! There will also be a search for the best homemade costume, and the crew from Scallywags will also be on hand to greet the littlest of museum visitors. 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27
