WQLN recognizes that children, families, and teachers are eager to continue learning together during these uncertain times. Using a wealth of resources, WQLN PBS is creating a bridge to distance learning opportunities and engaging experiences while we are all staying safe at home.
WQLN Homeroom brings learning to life by airing lessons from several local school districts on WQLN PBS 54.1 Monday through Friday from 8am until 11:30am. These 30-minute lessons began April 27. They are geared toward students from preschool through 6th grade.
“WQLN Homeroom brings learning to life even when the schools are closed,” said Traci Teudhope, WQLN marketing manager. “It’s a privilege to extend a helping hand to our local teachers and school districts as they work tirelessly to reach all students in our community.”
Subjects to be covered during these televised lessons from local teachers include ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Specials (Arts, PE, Music). The first lessons will be presented by school districts in the region including North East, Corry, Iroquois, Warren County, Union City, and Northwestern.
Additionally, WQLN continues its work in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to provide instructional programming through the seven PBS member stations in the commonwealth. Learning at Home, a robust catalog of educational programming on broadcast television, strengthened with additional online resources for teachers and families at www.learningathomepa.org.
