Erie County Public Library Gets Creative With Take-Home Book Boxes

Boxes available for families with kids of all ages

By Kara Murphy October 14, 2020

Have you heard about the Erie County Public Library's Book Boxes?

They are a stay-at-home reading experience for the whole family! Each box contains a free book for you to keep, a reading guide from your librarian, and supplies for hands-on extension activities. The creative idea is a way to offer outreach and educational opportunities to families during the pandemic.

There are different boxes for different age ranges, including Toddler Time Boxes, Preschool Storytime Boxes, and FAMtastic Fiction Boxes for families with older kids. FAMtastic book selections include "The Girl Who Drank the Moon," "Small Spaces," and "Welcome To Dead House." The Toddler Time Book Boxes include Duck & Goose "Find a Pumpkin." The Preschool Boxes will include "The Halloween Tree."

Reserve your box online or over the phone and pick it up at any Erie County Public Library location.

You can register for a box beginning Saturday, Oct. 17 at events.erielibrary.org  or by calling 814-451-6936.

Box pick up begins Oct. 24.

Supplies are limited so register now! One box per age group per household, please.
