Discover Presque Isle, organized under a new event format, will highlight the park’s countless offerings beginning Wednesday, July 21 and continue daily through Sunday, July 25. The multi-day celebration aims to draw attention to the Park’s numerous recreational opportunities and diverse natural ecosystems, and to educate visitors on the importance of protecting our natural environment.
The event occupies numerous areas of the park and offers more than 20 different family-friendly recreational and educational opportunities such as guided hikes, archery, pancake breakfasts, live music, sand sculpture competition, giant bonfire, and Presque Isle Lighthouse tours.

- A free showing of Jaws (in the Waldameer overflow parking lot)
- Kite beach illumination
- Sand sculpture competition
- Family fishing with S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie
- Giant bonfire
- Bicycle tour of Presque Isle

While nearly all programs are free, donations are encouraged and appreciated. Visitors can support the Presque Isle Partnership by purchasing a limited edition 100th Anniversary wood chip as part of the Partnership’s newly introduced “Chip in for Presque Isle” wood chip program.
UPMC Sunset Music Series returns
Presque Isle Partnership also announced this week that the FREE sunset beach concerts — an annual Erie favorite! — are BACK!
The UPMC Sunset Music Series at Beach 11 will kick off Discover Presque Isle on Wednesday evening, July 21 and continue weekly through August 11.
Concerts take place from 5:30-8:30PM and feature two live bands, extended swimming hours, and a weekly raffle. Food and refreshments are available from the Beach 11 concession stand, and the Partnership will be collecting donations through their newly introduced “Chip in for Presque Isle” wood chip program.
Beach 11 is the ideal venue for large events at Presque Isle. It features ample parking, several hundred feet of ADA Mobi-Mat pathways for wheelchair accessibility onto the beach, and a nature playground that provides a safe area for children to explore nature. Additionally, Beach 11 is the most accessible beach by boat as it is located adjacent to boaters’ beach near north pier.
The UPMC Sunset Music Series is pet friendly with certain restrictions: pets must remain behind the lifeguard chairs, near the tree line and always leashed. Pet waste must be promptly picked up and disposed of properly. As a reminder: Beach 11 is a smoke-free beach and alcohol is not permitted on Presque Isle State Park.
