What to Expect

Weeks One and Two are separate camp programs, each tailored to a different age group and led by accomplished regional teaching artists. Both sessions guide campers from concept to creation, ending with a collaborative project featured in the AmeriMasala Parade.

  • Design and build wearable and functional art pieces
  • Work with recycled and mixed materials
  • Develop creative problem-solving and collaboration skills
  • Learn directly from professional artists

Session 1: Teens (Ages 13–17)

Led by Teaching Artist Emily Gaudioso, teen campers will develop a collective theme and collaborative project for the 2026 AmeriMasala Parade. Campers will gain experience with tool safety, introductory carpentry, and creative construction while bringing a shared artistic vision to life.

Session 2: Youth (Ages 8–12)

During this week-long camp, participants will create a giant backpack-style puppet with artist and instructor Cheryl Capezzuti. Using boxes, recycled materials, papier-mâché, and paint, campers will build, refine, and decorate their puppets and learn basic puppeteering skills to prepare for the parade.
