Thursday July 4, 2019 6:00 am
Waterways in PennsylvaniaErie PA 16509

Description

Pennsylvania's fish for free days allow residents and non-residents to legally fish on Pennsylvania waterways, including Lake Erie, with no fishing license required.

Pennsylvania's upcoming fish for free days are Sunday, May 26, and Thursday, July 4.

All other fishing regulations still apply.

Don't have a pole? Don't worry! There are three sites in Erie County where you can "check out" fishing poles, rods, reels and a tackle box full of hooks and other terminal tackle during their regular business hours.

In Erie County those locations are:

  • Blasco Library, 160 E. Front St.
  • Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 301 Peninsula Drive
  • Manchester Beach, Walnut Creek Access (go to office building)

The loaner program, a partnership between the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the American Sportfishing Association, and other sponsors, is designed to make it easy for anyone to access fishing tackle. Here is a map with a full list of loaner locations throughout Pennsylvania.
