WQLN is now accepting submissions in both its annual WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest and the WQLN PBS Art Show and Contest.
WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest
The WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest is open to children in kindergarten through 5th grade. Stories may be submitted through March 31.
WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest is designed to promote the advancement of children's literacy skills through hands-on, active learning. The contest invites kids to experience the hands-on process of developing their own stories and illustrations, which builds language skills such as reading, grammar and syntax, and encourages creativity.
WQLN PBS Kids Writers Contest runs from January 1 through March 31 and is open to children in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. First, second, and third-place prizes are awarded in all four grade levels. Pre-K stories are accepted, but will be judged at the kindergarten level.
WQLN PBS Art Show and Contest
The WQLN PBS Art Show and Contest for tweens and teens is designed to promote creative artistic expression through painting.
This show and contest is open to students in grades six through twelve. Entries are accepted through March 31. A show will be held at a date to be determined this spring.
First, second, and third place ribbons will be awarded in the following grade level categories: 6th-8th, 9th-10th, and 11th-12th.
