Top FREE Winter & Spring Attractions for Families in Erie, PA
We're starting to see the light after a long winter! This is a transition month for the seasons, so make the most of the last days of winter and — fingers crossed! — the first glimpses of a beautiful spring coming our way this March.
Outdoor FREE Erie Fun
Every season at Presque Isle is magical, and these waning of winter is no exception. Enjoy scenic views and search for the first signs of spring on trails.
Bundle up and explore the snowy trails at Asbury Woods! This nature gem offers hiking paths, a winter wonderland atmosphere, and a chance to spot wildlife in their natural habitat. Bonus: The indoor Nature Center is free to visit during open hours, a welcome respite on cold winter days after a beautiful walk in the winter woods!

Indoor FREE Erie Fun
Hagen History Center is Pay-What-You-Wish for Erie County residents through the end of March. Erie County residents can pay whatever fits their budget to visit the Hagen History Center. Whether it’s $1, $10, or nothing at all, you and your family can dive into Erie’s history without breaking the bank. More info here.
Warm up at the TREC, located at the entrance to Presque Isle. This free center is a great place to learn about the history and ecology of Presque Isle through interactive exhibits and visit a four-story high indoor observation tower. It’s a great mix of education and entertainment for all ages.
Want to get indoors? Head to Millcreek Mall, one of the largest malls in the U.S., where you’ll find a fun FREE indoor playground for young kids to enjoy. While you’re there, take a stroll around the mall to get in your step count for the day!
